Japanese Introduction

Animethon, operated by ASAPA (Alberta Society for Asian Popular Arts), is the longest running fan-convention for celebrating Japanese anime and culture in Canada, held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Animethon is held annually in August and draws over 9000 attendees from across Western Canada, and spans multiple city blocks. Animethon also holds a smaller winter event in January that draws over 2500 attendees.

アルバータアジアポップアート協会(Alberta Society for Asian Popular Arts: ASAPA)の運営するアニメソンは、カナダ国内で最も息長く続いてきたアニメフェスティバルの一つで、日本のアニメや文化を称えてアルバータ州エドモントン市で開催されています。アニメソンは毎年8月に市内数区画に渡る会場で開催され、カナダ西部から9,000人を越す参加者が訪れます。冬イベントとしては、小さめな規模のイベントが1月に行われ、2,500人以上が参加します。
Major events includes dances, concerts, and masquerade. Animethon also offers programming such as presentations, video programming, tabletop and console gaming, and contests. Many attendees attend the convention in Cosplay and participate in gatherings of fans for anime and manga series. Many merchants and artists attend Animethon to sell merchandise in the Exhibitors Hall and Artist Alley, with products ranging from games, multimedia, official anime merchandise, and much more.

Animethon invites many different guests to perform and present to attendees. In recent years, Animethon held performances by FLOW (2015), An Cafe (2014), Kanon Wakeshima (2012), and information panels from Satsuki Yukino (2014).

アニメソンでは、ミュージシャン、声優、そして有名なコスプレーヤーの皆さんをお招きし、コンサートやQ&Aパネルや発表などをしていただいています。近年では、FLOW (2015)・An Cafe (2014)・分島花音さん(2012)のコンサート、そして、ゆきのさつきさん(2014)には情報たっぷりのパネルに出演していただきました。
